Chinas traditional folk art of miniature carving is known as “He Diao”. It involves carving craftworks out of various fruit pits like peach pits, apricot pits, olives and walnuts. In 2008, it was listed in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage. “He Diao” has a distinctive style in places like Suzhou and Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province, Weifang in Shandong Province, Guangdong Province, Zhejiang Province, Beijing, Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province, and Liaoning Province. Despite using what seems like an unconventional material, the artistry that goes into “He Diao” is truly remarkable, making it a unique and valuable cultural heritage of China.In 2008, it was included in the second batch of Chinas national intangible cultural heritage.
